Mark S. Garner was born in Winchester, Kentucky. His parents and family ended up in Middle Tennessee through several moves when Mark was around six years old. His family finally settled in Linden, Tennessee, where Mark considers his home. Mark graduated from Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education and a concentration in Biology. He also graduated from the University of Tennessee in Martin, Tennessee, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Management and a concentration in Wildlife Biology. He later attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and graduated with a Master of Science in Natural Resource Management, a concentration in Fisheries Services, and an emphasis on Crappie. Lastly, Mark graduated from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, with a PhD degree in Natural Resource Management with a concentration in Wildlife Biology and an emphasis on White-tailed Deer. He has more than 20 years of service working for the USDA Forest Service throughout the southeast as a Wildlife Biologist and Wildlife Program Manager. Mark married his best friend Angie while attending the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Currently, Mark, Angie, and their three children (Maisy, Braelyn, and Trevin) and Lily (Jack Russell) live in Chapin, South Carolina.
